A Battle Won

My babies are fourteen and a half months old and were still drinking from their bottles. They would gladly drink water from a sippy cup, but the taste of milk resulted in the cup being hurled. I have tried them all Nuby, Born Free, Gerber... They can drink from them all, but demand milk in their bottle... that was until I found these gems.

I went into my local Earthfare store and happened to walk down the baby aisle and these caught my eye. (They are the Green Sprouts Trainer Cups ) After closer inspection I saw that the spout was a really flexible silicone and larger than all the others filling my cabinet. So Monday night I took the plunge. I dared to put milk in the new sippies and handed one to G and then stepped back. Much to my surprise the cup was not thrown at me. She took a drink, smiled and then walked away holding her cup. I gave D his and after taking a few minutes to figure it out drank his milk without complaint. I quickly took the drying rack of bottles from the counter top and hid them.

... no more bottles!!

Thankfulness

This week's theme over at i heart faces is "thankfulness" and since my mood has been less than that the past couple of days, I thought this would serve as a great attitude adjustment for me to participate. My sister-in-law over at Goggles and Grace has also been inspiration for me to count my blessings. She posts each week to One Thousand Gifts at A Holy Experience . It is refreshing to read through the posts and see people looking at the glass half full instead of half empty, as I often do. And then a friend on Facebook posted the "Thanksgiving Challenge" asking people to use their Status to post something they are thankful for each day from now until Thanksgiving. The message is loud and clear... I have much to be thankful for.
So today I give thanks for: Answered Prayers

0001 A friend's two and a half year long prayer to become a mother has been doubly answered!

G and D when they were 3 weeks old... In about 7 months she'll meet her twins

0002 Baby Stellan's SVT surgery was a complete success despite his grim prognosis. What an amazing story this family has. I'm sure by now most everyone is a regular visitor to McMamma's blog My Charming Kids, but if not it is definitely worth the visit.
D and G wearing their orange for Stellan when he had his first heart ablation back in in April

0003 Tubes successfully placed in D's ears.. no more tugging or screaming :)I was looking back through the year in photos and realized how many pictures I have of D with his finger in his ear. Hello mom.... my ear is hurting!

I hope that you will visit and be inspired by the gratitude being shared at:

MOM's Party at Niven's Farm

Today was the Mother's of Multiples fall party at Niven's Farm. The babies fell asleep on the way, so we drove around for an hour to let them have a good morning nap and thus arrived about an hour late to the party. We missed the hayride, but were still able to visit with friends, play on the hay bails, and talk to the animals. Here are a few pictures.. I will add more tonight.

D's Big Day

What a night... Last night we were awake more than asleep due to ear pain and new teeth. D would not settle down no matter what we tried so at about 4:30 am Dave put him in the car and drove around. Meanwhile I was home with G, who decided that it would be great fun to play and dance at 5am. After much coaxing I got her back to bed and Dave picked me up to take D to the hospital for his appointment to have tubes put in his ears. It was very quick and went well. He has seemed much happier today. I am holding out hope that this will solve our past three or more weeks of sleepless nights. And the big news of the day... D took 2 steps!!!
